Patriots Australia [The Club], is a Military Motorcycle Club for regular, reserve and ex-serving members of the Australian or Allied Defence Forces (Navy, Army and Air Force), Patriots Australia (Inc) MMC was established in 1993 predominately for the benefit of serving personnel with an interest in riding and socialising with like minded individuals, constant postings hindered the ability to settle into local Clubs. The formation and establishment of Patriots Australia across the country enabled members to join and maintain their membership of the Club throughout their military service including deployments and postings, and into their retirement from the services. This ethos has served the Club well and we are now in our 24th year. Patriots Australia have Chapters in all States and Territories, so there is always fellowship, support and camaraderie with fellow bike riders available where ever they travel, there are now Patriot organisations in New Zealand, the United Kingdom, USA and South Africa who also provide the same welcome to our members. Each year we hold an annual general meeting in a different State /Territory, this is so we can ride, meet, socialise and discuss the Clubs past, present and future. The Australian and New Zealand Patriots are both run within the Department of Defence guidelines, we do not allow drugs or violence and we promote the non-sexist policies promoted by the Department of Defence. We do not wear a ''back patch''; we are purely an organisation that loves motorcycles, and enjoys the camaraderie of other service personnel and consider ourselves a Military Motorcyle Club. We are a family oriented club and as such invite serving and ex-serving members to happily bring along their families to our functions.
To provide an organisation dedicated to members and their families with a common interest in motorcycles. To have members throughout the States and Territories, to provide a social camaraderie for current serving and ex-serving members of the Defence Force. To generate interest between members of the club in providing support, both physical and financial, to charitable organisations. Our Members form a proud and loyal brotherhood who share the bond of Military service, all of whom have dedicated a part of their lives in the Defence of Freedom for their Country. We do not discriminate on the basis of gender, nationality, orientation or creed. Having served to protect democratic principles, we support the right to freedom of speech and the legal rights of all individuals. We do not support any form of criminal activity or illegal act that contravenes Commonwealth or State Law.
Three serving members of the Royal Australian Navy started the Club in 1993. These individuals considered that there was a need for military personnel with a common love of motorcycles, to have a contact point wherever they were posted. A place where they would be accepted, given information on where to obtain welfare, discharge advise, find accommodation etc. and also share their passion for motorcycling. From these few original members, the Club has expanded to the stage where it has Chapters in every MainlandState or Territory within Australia currently totalling 23, with over some 380 members & growing every week. Patriots Australia is an Incorporated Association registered with the Office of Fair Trading NSW, Patriots Australia Inc represents the National body of Patriots & is the registered Trade Mark holder of the Patriot Australia Logo.
We do not tolerate, wannabe's ,drugs, violence or theft, we believe in the non-sexist policy promoted by the ADF and NZDF. Within the Club, we have ex Korea, Malaya / Borneo, Vietnam, Somalia, Gulf, Afghanistan and Timor Veterans and Peacekeepers, but this is not a prerequisite for membership. Membership to Patriots Australia is open to all serving and ex-serving Military personnel (this includes Reserve service), any new applicant must provide written proof of such service and all Honours and Awards received and to others who have a direct bond with the Military, we do have Associates and Supporters, this partisanship, is restricted to those individual Chapters, not the Club, that have Associates and Supporters as a class of Membership, Associates & Supporters have no voting privileges and will abide by the same rules and regulations as Members. Members & Associates and those Supporters who ride must also be in possession of a current licence and roadworthy motorcycle of a capacity of 250cc or above and type such as from time to time is deemed acceptable by the Club. If you have done the Military time, have the appropriate motorcycle and licence, then you have the right to apply to be a Member of Patriots Australia..
Our aim is to make ALL motorcycle loving service personnel welcome in their new posting, assist & guide them in their welfare, administration & social needs, including family members. All partners and siblings of Members are Supporters, even if they do not ride. We ask our members to wear any decoration or awards they have been issued, this is to show the places that members have served and won recognition for. Most members wear their badges of their unit or trade, this provides a pictorial resume of that persons service, it also allows like Members to have a common talking point. NO person is permitted to wear any decoration, award, badge or insignia unless they have been awarded such a decoration, or served in the unit at the rank that the insignia denotes. The penalty for such an offence is dismissal from our Club, Members have worked too hard to gain such awards and insignia to allow abuses. We are fiercely loyal to our Flag and Country that is why we served. We try to uphold the traditions of the Anzac and all that it stands for, some of our Chapters have the privilege of meeting at their local R.S.L. Clubs where we are accepted as friends. Chapters have been permitted to hold their meetings within bases that is why we maintain a close links with the Defence Department, DVA, Legacy, VMC, local RSL’s & other Military Organisations. We are active in the communities raising monies for local charities & participate in various Military celebrations, such as, Legacy, H.M.A.S. Sydney Memorial Day, ANZAC Day, Long Tan, just to name as few. We do socialise with other Clubs that return the courtesy and respect that we show them.
Our “badge” was designed off the ADF Tri-Service Logo, to denote the three services that our members served in, the colour red, this signifies the blood shed by the men & women in past conflicts, the skull and black beret is to mourn those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice & white is for the peace members have fought for, and won.
